The Foundation was formed in 2017 following the closure of The Seedlings preschool in Rawdon.

A further injection of funds took place in 2019, following the closure of South Leeds Family Childcare.

Both organisations were keen to see that their funds, accumulated over many years of successful work caring for children, should remain in Leeds for the benefit of children and young people living in Leeds, well into the future.

In 2019 following the death of a good friend and trustee of Community Matters (Yorkshire) it was decided to establish the “Sue Knowles memorial fund”, to be used to assist staff working in the sector, to develop their personal skills and qualifications.
